House Historians, Jude O’Gorman and Carole Knight, have been researching the history of properties in the north west of England since 2003.
Jude O'Gorman 'After gaining a social science degree and post graduate library
qualification most of my working life has been spent in academic
and local authority libraries. I had some wonderful years dealing
with printed materials in special collections and archives:
it’s particularly pleasing to organize dusty and neglected treasures
and to make them accessible to researchers. Latterly I've also worked in museums in the North West and in County Kerry in Ireland.'

Carole Knight 'The house history fascination began when I moved into a nineteenth century house in Fulwood over thirty years ago. This conservation area of Preston captured my imagination and I set about researching its history. This hobby became a job and two local history books followed: Step Back in Time published in 1986 and revised in 2009, and Historic Fulwood and Cadley written with Margaret Burscough in 1998. I was also proud to be employed as a consultant on the BBC series
The House Detectives in 1997.'
  Carole Knight

Jude and Carole pooled their research skills and knowledge and set up House Historians
North West
in 2003.

'We love it because each house has a different story to tell and tells it through its physical
development and its inhabitants.'

Some stories are more dramatic that others, some are difficult to find, but all are fascinating.
